I'm Sofía—an all-around creative and organization freak (trying to keep it balanced haha). Growing up in a creative family, it was no surprise that I gravitated toward the arts. Fashion was my first medium, leading me to textiles, but my curiosity kept me moving, expanding my experience far beyond my degree.
My motto, "never exercise with ignorance," has shaped my journey—learning first, then doing. I wanted to design shoes, so I worked in a factory. Considered opening a shop? Took a sales job. Going crazy with Excel? Landed in sales and operations. Somewhere along the way, I embraced being a pragmatic creative (if that’s even a thing haha), adapting across teams, industries, and disciplines.
I run, MEÜS, my own studio, bringing my Latin American creativity to the world, and co-founded Collective Cinco x Cinco with the same mission. Along the way, Vogue Latin America named MEÜS a top sustainable brand, Forbes recognized me as one of Latin America’s leading designers, and Cinco x Cinco became the first Guatemalan collective to win Inédito at Design Week México. Still processing it all, but here I am—ready to create, learn, share, and collaborate.
Shall we work together?

Study of the feminine typology and the different stages through which a woman goes while understanding oneself. 4 personas for 4 stages was the line created by Lia that I use as guide for designing this collection. Macramé, embroidery and hand-woven textiles were also develop.
working at lia's was a fashion designer's dream with a dream team to bring everything from paper to real life.

textiles
production + design

Before designing the Archetype collection, I had the opportunity to collaborate with Lia Cohen on developing a series of handcrafted textiles.
Using a tapestry frame, embroidery, and punch needle techniques, I translated Lia’s vision into fabric, letting texture become my medium of expression. It was an incredible process that blended artistry and craftsmanship in a truly unique way.

caramelo
bumont
art direction + set design
I had the opportunity to collaborate with Guatemalan musician and producer Bumont on the set design and art direction for his music video Caramelo, featuring Mezz and Riah.
For this project, I designed and built a living and dining space to bring to life two key characters from the narrative crafted by Bumont and Fabuloso, the video’s director—who is also a photographer, videographer, and singer. The visual storytelling was further enhanced by the photographic direction of Juan Diego Quezada.
One of my favorite aspects of set design is transforming a blank space into an environment that feels authentic to the characters, reflecting their style and personality. And in this case, Bumont fit right in on that couch ;)

art direction + set design
Advertencia came together in the most unexpected way. I was invited to join the project by Fabuloso, who directed the video, with Juan Diego Quezada once again bringing his magic as director of photography.
Over three production days, we worked on three music videos—this being the first to be released. I designed and built multiple sets to reflect three distinct characters embodied by the singer, Adriana Rosso.
The concept revolved around expressing art fearlessly, breaking free from societal expectations, and channeling the energy of a bold, empowered woman.
Each set was built from scratch on a cyclorama at TVR, bringing these themes to life visually.

katana
easyeasy
art direction + set design
Katana was a crazy production just for the fact that I was in the same room with a snake, and not like at the zoo with a glass in between, we were next to each other :S panic!!
We had multiple conversations with the band and Renato Melini, the video director, to come to the final concept: “katana”, we wanted to explore duality and the internal conflict through the symbolism of a snake and its prey. A glass mirror represents self-reflection, distorting reality and testing intuition, tricking the mind into what is reality and what is not.
As Carnaval . Shot on a Hi8 camera for a raw, retro feel, the video merges Asian cultural references with the band’s style, creating a visually striking and universally relatable experience under Renato Melini’s direction.

styling
I’ve had the chance to dive into the world of commercial styling alongside Cohete Studio and TVR, working on ads for Brahva, Busch, Tortrix, and digital brands like Yalo.
Productions can definitely get stressful (okay, very stressful :')), but I honestly love the chaos! Styling for commercials is a whole different challenge—one that keeps me on my toes, and I’m always up for it.
Guatemalan musician and producer Bumont reached out to me to create the cover art for his single Carnaval, featuring Franc Castillejos.
As I listened to the lyrics, I kept coming back to the idea of water—not just as a visual element, but as a space filled with nostalgia, a meeting point for emotions, for longing, and for discovery.
With a tight budget in mind, I explored the concept through miniatures, building different scenes where the characters "search" and "find" themselves in a reflection of water. I loved this project—but if I’m being honest, my favorite shot was the one with the two staircases, not the one that made the final cover :'(

leena bae
merch design + cover art phot + set design + styling
This project was one of those unexpected creative journeys that pushed me to experiment with different mediums and outlets.
It all started with merch design, building a visual language inspired by tarot cards and symbols that represent Leena Bae’s essence for her song good. From there, we moved into cover art design, which gave me the chance to craft stories, build sets… and even take photos. (not a photographer, but I had to try—quiero is my favorite song on the album, after all!)
For Dorado, I designed her look, did a bit of sewing, and even created some wild heels—you’d never guess they started as a napkin holder! Decontrol Studio then worked their graphic magic with my photo, and the result is just as powerful as the song itself.
Looking back at all these projects, one thing’s clear—music is definitely a huge part of my life ...
consultancy

Sharing knowledge is so important! I’ve been fortunate to learn from incredible mentors throughout my journey, and I feel a responsibility to pass that knowledge forward.
Through creative consulting, I’ve found a way to do just that—helping emerging brands bring their vision to life. This has been the case with Straycat and Elemento, two Guatemalan fashion brands I’ve had the pleasure of working with.
Guiding other creatives as they build their brands has been both rewarding and inspiring!
